  13 I've designed and helped implementing the following
  14 production systems, all of which are still in service:

  16  * **SugarLabs**'s Internet infrastructure -- I'm coordinator
  17  of the [[http://sugarlabs.org/go/InfrastructureTeam | Infrastructure Team]],
  18  taking care of 8 machines hosted at variois locations and running
  19  development and support services for a large community.

  21  * **DevelerCompany's IT infrastructure** - Leveraging
  22  my earlier work for SiriusCompany, for over 6 years I've
  23  been continuously growing and restructuring the network,
  24  the servers and their intricate mesh of services and
  25  support scripts.  The main server, called {{trinity}},
  26  contains 1TB of storage and offers file storage, user
  27  authentication, e-mail, and many web-based services to a
  28  highly heterogeneous and complex environment comprising
  29  several versions of Linux, MacOsX and Windows clients.
  30  Another server, called {{asterisk}}, acts as a VoIP PBX
  31  and secondary slave for many (but not all) of {{trinity}}'s
  32  services.

  34  * ** http://www.fieremostre.it/ ** - A cluster of 4 RedHat
  35  servers, two web frontends and Java appservers and two
  36  database and filesystem backends with hw SCSI RAID5.
  37  Fully managed remotely, including power fencing and
  38  robotized tape juggler.

  40  * I've configured and installed a cluster of 5 nodes on
  41  blade CPU boards with shared fiber-channel RAID storage.
  42  I used a pre-release of RedHat's Advanced Server product
  43  to implement a shared storage pool of 1.5TB with GFS1.
  44  The system initially went to production without the GFS
  45  pool because of reliability concerns with this new
  46  technlogy.

  49  acting as a gateway and file server for a security ring.
  50  This design was done for the Department of Bioengineering
  51  of the University of Firenze, in Prato's Scientific Center.

  53 My philosophy is using mainstream hardware whenever possible
  54 and concentrate most services on few phisical systems.
  55 The savings in cost can be used to increase availability and
  56 performance through redundancy.  This strategy leads to
  57 datacenters that are easy to understand and maintain, while
  58 at the same time scaling up much better than
  59 traditional asymmetrical solutions (like web server,
  60 mail server, db server...).
